Claudia Palfi: Where Comfort Ends -Motorcycle Travel Log

Claudia Palfi Launches Her Book
Where Comfort Ends (Acolo Unde Se Termină Confortul)

book where comfort ends

Claudia Palfi releases her debut book, Where Comfort Ends – a travel journal that follows a spectacular 8,000+ km journey from the heart of Romania to the far eastern reaches of Turkey, along the shores of the Black Sea, and back.

The book documents an intense adventure lived in September–October 2021, during a time when a new wave of the pandemic was sweeping through Europe. Despite the uncertainty, Claudia chose to get on her motorcycle – affectionately named “Ikran” (inspired by the flying creatures from the movie Avatar) – and embark on a journey full of challenges and discovery.

Where the Roads Demand Courage

This isn’t just a route on a map – it’s a true life experience. Along the way, Claudia tackles legendary and dangerous roads like the Bayburt-Of Yolu, also known as the Death Road, and the breathtaking rock-carved route through Kemaliye, both testing the limits of her bravery and inner balance.

Accompanied by her husband Alex, her adventure partner, Claudia rides across the Anatolian Plateau, descends through the Taurus Mountains, reaches the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, then explores the Aegean and Marmara regions, before entering the vibrant heart of Istanbul.

More Than a Road Trip

Each kilometer brings a new lesson – about fear, about beauty, and about people living simply and authentically. The book blends pure adrenaline with moments of introspection and vivid stories from places where time seems to move differently.

Whether you’re a motorcyclist or simply a lover of true, raw travel stories, Claudia invites you to ride pillion on her “Ikran” through a rollercoaster of emotions – in an easy, soulful read, perfect for your holiday or those quiet evenings when you’re dreaming of your next destination.

The book is dedicated to Pink Ride, the annual awareness event organized by the Women’s International Motorcycle Association (WIMA) Romania, which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer. It’s a deep and urgent cause that concerns us all – and one that Claudia supports with the same calm strength that defines her.

“This is a book about courage, about roads, and about women who keep on moving. Claudia is one of them.”
Mihaela Hodivoianu, President of WIMA Romania

October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, Women’s International Motorcycle Association – WIMA Romania is organizing Pink Ride to raise awareness about the importance of prevention in the fight against breast cancer, in two major cities: Bucharest (5th edition) and Cluj-Napoca (2nd edition).

Throughout the entire month, we are running a fundraising campaign to support women affected by this illness. All funds raised will go to the Oameni Buni Association, which will:

• Provide direct support to women diagnosed with breast cancer

• Run awareness and prevention campaigns in local communities

• Cover urgent costs for medical investigations, treatments, or other health-related needs

How can you support this cause?

Donate any amount you can – every contribution counts.

For donations that exceed 39 RON (about 8 euros), you’ll receive a free e-book as a token of appreciation: Where Comfort Ends by Claudia Palfi (after your donation is confirmed, you’ll receive access to the e-book).

Why your support matters:

Because prevention saves lives.
Because timely help can make all the difference.
And because together, we can bring hope where it’s needed most.

About Claudia Palfi

A former journalist, certified tour guide, and founder of the motorcycle travel company motorcycle-tours-europe.us, Claudia lives between departures, maps, and stories. She travels the world by motorcycle not to collect destinations, but to understand places, people – and most importantly, herself.

With an independent spirit and an unquenchable thirst for exploration, Claudia turns every ride into a memorable experience.

Where Comfort Ends is her editorial debut – a travel-journal that gathers not only kilometers and routes, but also personal reflections, fears, joys, and revelations. It’s a heartfelt invitation to escape, to dream, and above all, to find the courage to set out – even when the world seems to stand still.
